This news will either terrify you that the future is nye and we may all soon be microchipped and living with robots, or it’ll excite you. Maybe even a bit of both.

In a world first, Uber is officially offering a full submarine experience for their app users to travel through the ocean in style.

The sub is a tiny three-seater vehicle, which will give you an unobstructed view of Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef; considering apparently “exploring the Great Barrier Reef in a submarine was the most desired future travel experience” for most. Who knew.

You’ll be able to take a ride in the scUber from May 27 to June 18 in one of two ways:

If you’re a current resident in Gladstone, Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas, you can now either order your submarine trip, or plan ahead for when the experience is available in your city.

If you don’t actually live in Queensland, don’t fret, because you can actually win the chance to scUber through the Great Barrier Reef.

Competition winners will receive: return airfares and transfers to Queensland, 5 nights luxury accommodation, a Quicksilver Cruises and Nautilus Aviation Great Barrier Reef experience, a ride in scUber at Agincourt Reef, a Daintree Rainforest tour and a $250 AUD Uber credit for use in the Uber and Uber Eats app. Enter the competition here.

It’s not all just in good fun though, Uber has actually partnered with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef and will be donating $100,000 to help support their Reef conservation programs, as well as donating the equivalent value of every scUber ride taken.

Book your ride for a cause now.
