We love a little bit of social media drama. So, naturally, one of our favourite Instagram pages is Diet Prada, the account devoted to calling out all kinds of misbehaviour from some of the world’s biggest players in fashion.

Diet Prada is like that one friend who you can always trust to give you the latest gossip, except it plays out as a deliciously catty IG page wreaking havoc in the world of high fashion. It’s amazing.

Now that the account has officially crossed the one million follower milestone, and shows no signs of slowing down, we decided to take a look at some of the biggest fashion scandals Diet Prada has blown wide open.

Gucci and Prada

Diet Prada isn’t perfect. It’s run by two flesh-and-blood humans who can be biased, and the account has, in the past, been accused of taking it easy on both Gucci and Prada – the designer from which the page takes its name.

But, the account still took the two brands to task when they revealed products that eerily recalled racist imagery. Both designers swiftly pulled the products after Diet Prada posted about them. The lesson here is: It’s 2019, and if you’re ignorant enough to use blackface, you will be called out for it.

BorrowMyBalmain

If you’ve never heard of BorrowMyBalmain it might be because Diet Prada ended them before they even really started. The Melbourne-based fashion rental company was gaining traction and attention when their items were being seen on some Aussie celebs. That is, of course, until Diet Prada swooped in and exposed them for loaning out fake designer pieces and pretty much wiping them off the map.

Miss USA

Nothing gets past Diet Prada! Taking a break from their usual high fashion call-outs, the account decided it had the time to expose Sarah Rose Summers, AKA Miss USA, for disparaging her fellow Miss Universe contestants from Cambodia and Vietnam for not speaking English.

Gosha Rubchinskiy

This one really makes our skin crawl. The account posted screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between a 16-year-old boy and Rubchinskiy, where it appears he is pressuring the boy to send him inappropriate pictures. Adidas, who the designer collaborates with, announced they would launch an investigation following the post.

Virgil Abloh

Virgil’s caught the attention of Diet Prada a few times, who has called him out for lifting designs for Off-White on a few occasions. In a recent profile for the New Yorker, Virgil addressed the allegations he stole designs for his IKEA collab and basically brushed it off as run-of-the-mill internet negativity. He did, however, say that he admired the account and what it had set out to do, proving that Diet Prada is, in fact, irresistible.

Kim Kardashian (multiple times!)

Not exactly a surprise that Kim K would be a multiple offender. She’s something of a modern day fashion icon and someone that the world is constantly staring at. The account has called out Kim for a flurry of reasons. To name a few: stealing one too many looks from Naomi Campbell, being in league with fast fashion brands (and making a questionable plea asking them to stop stealing her outfits) and lifting designs from Comme de Garçons for her children’s clothing line.

So, congrats (?) to Kim K: the undisputed queen of Diet Prada. Not sure we’d say that’s a good thing.

Kylie Jenner (multiple times!)

Ok we’ll admit, Kylie’s scandals have never really erupted the same way her sister’s has. Still, Kylie deserves a spot on this list for the sheer amount of times she’s made an appearance on the page for allegedly stealing looks from pretty much everyone from Naomi Campbell to Beyonce to Jane Birkin. At this rate, she’ll be overtaking Kim’s throne in no time.

Dolce & Gabbana

Diet Prada’s biggest scandal yet – and this one is equal parts outrageous, appalling and entertaining. First, the page called out DG for pandering to Chinese markets with a dubious advert featuring an Asian model not knowing how to eat a cannoli with chopsticks.

The next day, the account posted some DMs where Stefano Gabbana used the phrase “China Ignorant Dirty Smelling Mafia.” Obviously, this did not go over well and the ensuing firestorm led to DG cancelling a high-profile fashion show in Shanghai and leading to a boycott of the brand across the country.

It was a mess, but at least it was entertaining.

As a bonus, and as proof that the account might just have a heart after all, here’s Diet Prada calling out Stefano Gabbana (has he ever considered just putting down his phone?) for sending Kim K makeup after commenting on her photo calling her and her family “the most cheap people in the world.”

The fashion industry really is breaking boundaries more each day, consider Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH opening up a new hotel.
