Keith Haring’s art has not been limited to the subway tunnels of New York. In the latest exhibition at the newly renovated Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, Haring’s bold line paintings can be seen on cars.

“The Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring” will exhibit vehicles that were painted over the span of nine years. This will be the first time that all the vehicles have been displayed together in the same room, with most pieces being collectors items picked up from America, France and Germany.

Keith Haring was a world-renown artist who passed away in 1990. Haring created art to express social and political issues that were prominent in 1980’s New York street culture. Expressing the concepts of birth, death, sexuality and war, Haring’s art became the visual language of the 20th century.

Unfortunately this exhibition will not be available to us Australians unless you are planning to head over to Los Angeles before the 4th of June.
