Full disclosure: I think Space Jam is the best movie of all time. I would ask my parents to let me rent it at Blockbuster so frequently that they finally caved and bought me my own VHS copy, which I promptly wore out from overuse and so I had to beg them to buy me another.

So, if you’re anything like me, join me in celebrating some earth-shaking news: Space Jam, the seminal 90s basketball/Looney Toons crossover classic, is receiving its long-awaited sequel.

A newly released promotional picture for Space Jam 2 reveals that LeBron James will be stepping into the Michael Jordan role. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler joins as a producer and Terence Nance will direct.

Bugs Bunny is expected to return as himself.

No release date yet, but with King James set to film during the next NBA offseason, the movie is tentatively slated for a 2019 release.

So start assembling your Toon Squad, lace up your LeBron’s, grab a bottle of your Secret Stuff, and rewind your VHS tapes now because it’s never too early to start crushing some Monstars.

In related news, LeBron’s been busy beefing up his CV. He also has a docu-series over at Showtime.
