We haven’t got flying cars, but self-lacing sneakers are finally available and not just for Marty McFly (27 years later, may we add). With bits of information being revealed over the past year, we now have a price.

They’re marketed as HyperAdapt 1.0, which makes us even more excited for what Nike has in store for the 2.0 version.

“Innovation at Nike is not about dreaming of tomorrow. It’s about accelerating toward it,”

– Tinker Hatfield, Nike’s Shoe Designer

For something that took 13 years to make, the $720 (USD) price is ~sort of~  justifiable. Your below ankle extremities will be laced up and light up – all by themselves thanks to pressure sensors that detect the perfect fit. It means the weight and pressure are registered by the shoe itself, not just the retail attendant at Athlete’s Foot.

After a few wears, it’s said that HyperAdapt 1.0 will automatically adapt to your chosen setting. AMAZING, no?

All you have to do is charge them every fortnight.

The past is actually the future and the future is the past…
