Nothing screams TGIF than hearing Triple J‘s segment Like A Version pump out of your dinged up car radio.

Triple J has been the pioneer of the best music in Australia, and this time, their innovative idea of hosting a Like a Version Hottest 100 countdown has taken things up a notch.

The countdown will take place at 12:00pm AEST on July 15 so tell your mates and mark it in your calendars because there’s no better excuse for a “chilled one with ya mates” than this. Since the segment’s launch in 2004, there’s been countless memorable covers that slap, all with a REDDS in hand, perhaps a shoey if that’s how you roll.

With so many great covers to choose from, it’s hard to predict which ones will make it to the top of the countdown. Some of the most popular Like a Version covers over the years include Chvrches’ cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River,” Meg Mac’s emotional take on Broods’ “Bridges,” and Thelma Plum’s rendition of Chet Faker’s “Gold.” But with 17 years’ worth of covers to choose from, yes you read that right, it’s anyone’s guess as to which covers will take out the coveted top spots.

Voting for triple j’s Hottest 100 kicked off on May 23 and closes on July 10. And let me tell ya, there’s a lot to get through, so start listening now and take note of your faves.

Thankfully, in the lead up to the countdown, Triple J has released their entire catalogue of covers on their website. So, take a trip down “Good Mems” lane and get your vote on.

Our favourite? Anything Childish Gambino.
