If you’re anything like us, you thrive off cheap shit. $2 hot dogs? We’re there. Limitless amount of dumplings for $20? Count us in. Free art exhibitions? Let us free up some space on our Instagram to make us seem very arty.

For the month of January Sydney Festival is doing just that by bringing us art for free (or very very cheap). And so you don’t get overwhelmed at all the fancy artists names, we have hand picked four that you can’t miss out on.

1. MYURAN SUKUMARAN: ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

Myuran Sukumaran is a name you may remember from the executed Bali Nine. In a global premier Myuran’s in-depth series covering the expressions of forgiveness and compassion he experienced during his incarceration at Bali’s Kerobokan jail and his final days on Nusa Kambangan Island will be shown at Campbeltown Art Centre. The sobering series explores how art changes lives.

W&W // Opens 13th January // 10AM–4PM // Free // Campbeltown Art Centre //

2. THE BEACH AT THE CUTAWAY, BARANGAROO RESERVE

Sydney’s pop up sea of white has become one of the most popular art installations. With the ability to literally submerge yourself into the world art, the giant ball pit consists of 1.1 million recyclable polyethylene balls contrasting against the 60-metre wide shoreline of Barangaroo.

The installation has been created at the hands of Snarkitecture, a New York-based art and architecture collaborative group.

3. GLITTERBOX

A sensory overload installation has placed itself on the Sky Terrace of The Star. The glass cube features a memorising glow with the ability to choose your own soundtrack to dance along too in the vortex of glitter. Created by zin partnership (Harriet Gillies and Roslyn Helper) along with Elizabeth Gadsby, the cube aims to connect friends and strangers through their own private dance party.

4. HOUSE OF MIRRORS

Not for the faint hearted or those who like me are terrible with directions, this labyrinth of an installation will leave you bewildered. The maze of mirrors, will present you with disorientating optical allusions and the endless task of getting out. It is an art itself if you manage to get out of the reflections.

W&W // From the 6th January // $10 Entry // Meriton Festival Village, Hyde Park North.
