Although January 1st may not be the most ideal day to spend in direct sunlight for 12 hours amongst a crowd of 40,000 other people (you know, with that raging hangover you most definitely have), Field Day is still the only way we want to ring in the New Year.

2017 saw the likes of Chance The Rapper and Childish Gambino hit the stage, and with Golden Features having already confirmed their spot on 2018’s bill, we’re currently sitting in a state of borderline insanity waiting for the entire lineup to drop . In the mean time, here a 5 acts we have a feeling might be making their way to Australia to soundtrack us a we fight through splitting headaches, cover our bodies in glitter and sing like work the next day will never come….

MURA MASA

Mura Masa has firmly positioned himself as the producer to watch slowly take over the pop world this year. With his debut album seeing features from A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX and Bonzai, the hype surrounding Mura Masa is well deserved and growing in monolithic proportions . Plus, he’ll already be in the country for Beyond The Valley…..

BROCKHAMPTON

The Kevin Abstract led collective have killed it in 2017, with Saturation proving to be the perfect blend of hard-hitting beats, soulful RnB and quirky lyricism. If you haven’t experienced the legit masterpiece that it is yet, please get on it before Part II is released this Friday. Although it might be difficult to coordinate an Australian trip between the 15 of them, the hip-hop dream team don’t have anything planned after September ends, leaving a perfectly Australian sized gap in their schedule.

AMINE

Featured on this year’s XXL Freshman Class, Amine’s, Good For You is one of this year’s most upbeat and undeniably fun hip-hop releases. We just want to envy his energy while he’s bouncing around the stage at 4pm and we’re struggling to stand up straight. His US Tour ends during November leaving ample time to prep for an Australian stop….

SZA

Ctrl will be finding it’s way onto plenty of year end lists (and possible all time faves). Blending her brand of Rihanna meets Amy Winehouse, RnB/ indie rock conglomerate, it’s only a matter of time before SZA completely takes over the mainstream. There’s nothing we’d rather do than spill our Vodka Red Bull all over the person in front of us whilst trying to belt out The Weekend.

DRAKE

Rumours began to circulate this week that a Drizzy tour down-under was imminent. In an interview with Noisey, the company that design Drake’s stage set-ups stated “you’re the first person to hear this besides Drake but we’re about to go to Australia and embark on another leg for him down there.” Although More Life is objectively sub-par, we’re still forever in-debt to @champagnepapi. And is there really a better way to ring in the new year than to cry during Marvin’s Room.…?
