Megan Thee Stallion just teased Fever: Thee Movie, directed by none other than Hype Williams.
The Houston rapper took to social media to preview a short film for her Fever mixtape. The project is directed by the legendary Hype Williams, who’s worked on music videos for the likes of 2Pac, Missy Elliott, JAY-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and more.
The film looks like an homage to Kung Fu-blaxploitation, a popular sub-genre of cinema from the 70’s that appealed to black audiences. To get a feel of the ‘blaxploitation’ aesthetic, check out the music video for Megan’s track Realer, which ends on a ‘to be continued’ note.
While Megan hasn’t revealed much, it looks like Fever: Thee Movie will be part of a planned music video series.
DaBaby and Juicy J, who both featured on the Fever album, made their cameos as well. The movie is self-proclaimed to be X-rated for mature audiences, which is pretty on brand for Megan. Not only is she currently killing it in the rap game, but she’s been the forefront of the current social media movement known as ‘hot girl summer’, which has been widely embraced since her album released in May.
Speaking to The Root last month, Stallion defines ‘hot girl summer’ as:
“women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good-ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you. You definitely have to be a person who can be the life of the party and just a bad bitch.”
Check out the teaser for Fever: Thee Movie, and don’t let winter stop you from having your hot girl summer.
