Sometime in the near future, we’ll be seeing an epic biopic depicting the life of the King of Rock n Roll, Elvis Presley.
Australian film director Baz Luhrman is currently crafting up a shortlist of actors to play the role of Elvis in an upcoming biopic on the star’s life.
The likes of Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller, and Austin Butler are just some of the names that are in with a chance; but one name that is a surprise to literally everyone is G-Eazy.

The 30-year-old rapper is reportedly the front runner to nab the role and compete with Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort etc., and work alongside legendary actor Tom Hanks; who already scored the role of playing Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker.
According to TMZ, The Oakland-rapper has been making a strong campaign to the officials to put himself forward for the role. He’s reportedly had a number of conversations with the executives of Warner Bros’ to reiterate how serious he is in getting the role, and even met up with Baz Luhrman himself in New York to pitch his audition to him.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the rapper has featured in a movie. In 2015, G-Eazy featured in a short film titled Tunnel Vision in which he starred as Antonio Salvatore Servidio or more commonly known as Johnny Russo – a hip-hop promoter from the Bay Area in California, and was once associated with the likes of fellow West-Coast rappers Tupac Shakur and Mac Dre.
We’re not far away from the official announcement of who is playing the role of Elvis, but it’s fair to say that it would be very interesting to see G-Eazy nab the role.
